About the game

Rialto is a card-driven Euro game for 2-5 players set in Renaissance Venice, where players place council members, build bridges and gondolas, and construct buildings across the city's six districts to earn victory points. Each round, players choose from character-themed cards to activate specific actions, collecting gold, placing councilors, or acquiring buildings, with the majority player in each character earning bonus actions. Designer Stefan Feld's intricate scoring and district-value system reward careful long-term planning over six rounds.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team enjoys Rialto's tight card-selection puzzle, where deciding which character actions to prioritize each round has real knock-on effects for majority control. It's a quintessential Stefan Feld design: interlocking systems that reward optimization without excessive luck. The district-value mechanic elegantly ties together bridge-building and area majority for a satisfying strategic arc.
