About the game

The Great Zimbabwe is a dense economic strategy game in which players build trade networks and monuments across ancient Africa to honor a chosen god. Through auctioning, market trading, and network-building, players develop technology, gather resources, and construct increasingly elaborate monuments to earn victory points. Each of the twelve available gods offers a different balance of risk and reward, adding a layer of strategic choice from the outset. As a Splotter design, it's known for its tight economy and demanding, interlocking systems.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team regards The Great Zimbabwe as one of the most cerebral economic games in modern design: every action ripples through a fragile shared economy. It's not a game for the faint of heart; turns require real calculation, and mistakes are costly. Fans of Splotter's other tightly-wound economic engines will find a lot to love here. It's a rewarding but demanding experience best suited to committed strategy groups.
