About the game
Sails of Glory recreates naval combat during the Age of Sail using painted miniature ships, cards, and a special deck of maneuver cards that capture each vessel's unique handling. Players secretly select their maneuver cards each turn, then reveal them simultaneously, moving their ships along the resulting paths before firing broadsides at targets within range. Options vary based on wind direction and, with advanced rules, sail configuration, adding a layer of nautical realism to every maneuver. Set initially in the Napoleonic era, the Sails of Glory system builds on the acclaimed Wings of Glory engine, adapted for tall ships and cannon fire. It's a visually striking tactical game of naval maneuver and broadside combat.
Hobbli's Notes
The painted miniature ships make this a gorgeous game to have on the table, and the simultaneous maneuver-card system captures naval tactics better than most dice-driven alternatives. Turns can slow down as players plan and resolve simultaneous movement, especially with more ships in play. A great pick for fans of the Wings of Glory system looking to set sail instead of taking flight.
