About the game
Gloom of Kilforth is a cooperative fantasy card game where one to four heroes journey through the dark land of Kilforth to battle monsters, uncover artefacts, and ultimately confront an ancient evil. Players can work individually or together, exploring strange locations and building their hero's story across an epic narrative arc. Dice rolling, variable powers, and modular boards keep each playthrough different. It supports solo play and is designed for sessions of roughly 45 minutes per player.
Hobbli's Notes
Gloom of Kilforth delivers a surprisingly deep solo and small-group fantasy adventure with real narrative weight. The variable player powers and modular setup give it strong replay value for a card-based game. It does ask for a real time commitment, especially at higher player counts, so it suits groups who want to sink into a session. The gothic fantasy atmosphere is a highlight throughout.
What we like
- Strong solo mode makes it a great single-player fantasy option.
- Variable hero powers and modular boards boost replayability.
- Immersive gothic fantasy theme carries through every mechanic.
- Rewarding long-form character journey across the campaign.
Keep in mind
- Long playtime, especially with more players.
- Rules and card interactions can feel dense for newcomers.
- Card-based combat may lack the tactile appeal of miniatures games.
