About the game

Set in Terry Pratchett's Discworld, this hidden-role area-control game casts 2-4 players as secret factions vying to control the city of Ankh-Morpork after Lord Vetinari's disappearance. Every one of the 132 cards is unique, driving events and letting you place minions and buildings around the map. Since each player's victory condition is different and hidden, you can never be quite sure what your rivals are actually working toward. Martin Wallace's card-driven design keeps games brisk while filled with the Discworld's beloved characters and humor.

Hobbli's Notes

We love how Ankh-Morpork turns a beloved fantasy setting into a genuinely tense hidden-role game rather than just slapping a license on a generic euro. The asymmetric win conditions keep every playthrough feeling different, and the artwork is a treat for Discworld fans. It does ask you to pay attention to what others might be up to, which can trip up very casual groups. Overall it's a great pick for fans of the books and of clever, interactive card play.

What we like

  • Unique hidden victory conditions keep every player guessing.
  • 132 uniquely illustrated cards bring beloved Discworld characters to life.
  • Multiple viable strategies keep replays fresh.
  • Relatively simple core rules make it easy to teach.

Keep in mind

  • Hidden roles can frustrate players who dislike uncertainty about opponents' goals.
  • Card luck can occasionally overshadow careful planning.
  • Newcomers may need a full game to grasp the asymmetric objectives.
