About the game

Chronicle is an inventive trick-taking game where cards represent historical figures whose special powers tangle together each round. Players compete to leave the biggest mark on history by controlling how key events unfold. Designed by Seiji Kanai, it supports 3 to 6 players and plays in about 30 minutes. Its blend of trick-taking with character abilities makes each hand feel different.

Hobbli's Notes

We love how Chronicle takes the familiar trick-taking formula and injects it with quirky, ability-laden character cards for constant surprises. It rewards players who can read the table and time their power plays, though newcomers may need a session or two to grasp the interactions. The theme is a bit abstract but charming for history buffs. A great pick when your group wants something sharper than a standard trick-taking game.

What we like

  • Unique twist on classic trick-taking mechanics.

  • High replayability thanks to varied character abilities.
  • Scales well from 3 to 6 players.

Keep in mind

  • Ability interactions can overwhelm new players at first.
