About the game

Warhammer: Invasion is a two-player living card game of kingdom management and warfare set in the Warhammer fantasy universe. Players choose a faction such as the Dwarfs, Empire, Orcs, or Chaos, building a deck to develop their kingdom's three-zone capitol while attacking their opponent's. Cards played into the Kingdom, Quest, or Battlefield zones generate resources, draw extra cards, or launch attacks respectively, creating constant tactical balancing decisions. Unlike randomized collectible card games, its fixed-content expansion packs mean no chasing rare cards.

Hobbli's Notes

A well-regarded LCG that offers deep faction-based deckbuilding without the randomized-booster frustration of traditional CCGs. The three-zone capitol system creates interesting tension between economy, card draw, and aggression. It's now out of print, so expect to hunt the secondary market, but it remains a rewarding two-player card game for Warhammer fans.

What we like

  • Deep, faction-based deckbuilding strategy.
  • Fixed-content expansions avoid randomized-booster luck.
  • Rich Warhammer fantasy theme and lore.
  • Large card pool built up across many expansion cycles.

Keep in mind

  • Out of print, requiring the secondary market to collect.
  • Steep learning curve for newcomers to LCGs.
  • Strictly a two-player game.

Who it's for

LCG and CCG enthusiasts aged 13 and up who enjoy deep two-player deckbuilding within the Warhammer fantasy setting.
