About the game

Snow Tails puts players in charge of a dog sled team racing across snowy Arctic tracks built from modular pieces, so every race unfolds on a fresh course. Each racer manages two dogs and a brake using a shared deck of numbered cards, combining values to control speed and steer left or right. Push your sled too hard around a corner and you'll pick up Dent cards that clog your hand, threatening to knock you out of the race entirely. It's a clever, tactile racing game with a genuinely original movement system. Up to five players can compete, making for a lively, competitive dash to the finish line.

Hobbli's Notes

We love how Snow Tails turns simple card values into surprisingly tricky steering decisions: the push-your-luck cornering keeps every turn tense. It hits a sweet spot of being easy to teach yet full of "just one more race" appeal. Player elimination via accumulated damage can sting for newer players who get knocked out early. Still, its light footprint and quick setup make it a great filler-length racing game for families and gamers alike.

What we like

  • Original and intuitive dog-sled steering mechanism.
  • Modular tracks keep every race fresh.
  • Easy to teach and quick to play.
  • Fun for a wide range of ages and group sizes.

Keep in mind

  • Player elimination can end the race early for unlucky players.
  • Limited long-term strategic depth beyond a few plays.
  • Requires table space for the modular track.
