About the game
RoboRally is a chaotic racing game where 2-8 players program robots with a hand of movement cards, then watch simultaneous mayhem unfold across a factory floor full of conveyor belts, pits, and lasers. Players secretly fill "registers" with cards each turn, then reveal and resolve them in order, colliding with, pushing, and zapping each other along the way. The goal is to steer your robot through a sequence of checkpoints before your rivals, even as your carefully laid plans get wrecked by chance encounters. Designed by Richard Garfield, it's a classic blend of programming puzzle and unpredictable chaos.
Hobbli's Notes
RoboRally remains a beloved classic for the way it turns simultaneous programming into pure, gleeful chaos: plans rarely survive contact with the board. It scales up to eight players, which is rare and fun for big groups, though downtime and rules overhead can climb noticeably at that count. The mix of planning and randomness won't please players who want tight control over outcomes. Still a great pick when you want laughs over precision.
