About the game
PUNCT is the fifth game in Kris Burm's acclaimed GIPF Project, a pure abstract connection game for two players. On your turn you either introduce a new piece to the board or move one already in play, working to link two opposite sides of the board before your opponent does. With no luck and no hidden information, every game comes down to spatial reasoning and route-building skill. As part of the GIPF series, it stands alone perfectly while sharing the project's minimalist, elegant design philosophy.
Hobbli's Notes
PUNCT is a clean, elegant connection game in the tradition of Hex and Havannah, and Kris Burm's GIPF series has a well-earned reputation among abstract strategy fans for tight, luck-free design. It's not for everyone, there's no theme, no randomness, and no player interaction beyond the board state, but for two players who enjoy pure strategic dueling, it's a rewarding puzzle. Newcomers to abstract connection games may need a few plays to see the deeper strategy.
