About the game

Niagara sends adventurers racing canoes across a rushing river toward hidden caches of jewels, with the ever-changing current shaped by players' own card choices and the weather. Simultaneously selected movement cards determine how far canoes travel, but push too far and you risk plunging over the waterfall, losing your canoe entirely. The first player to claim five jewels wins, but desperados lurking near the shore may plunder riches from returning adventurers. Its innovative movement system and striking three-dimensional waterfall board set it apart.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team admires Niagara's clever risk-reward tension, forced by the constantly shifting current and the threat of going over the falls. The striking physical waterfall centerpiece makes it a real conversation piece at the table. It shines best with a fuller table of players, so it's a slightly weaker choice for just two.

What we like

  • Innovative simultaneous movement tied to a shifting current.
  • Striking three-dimensional waterfall board.
  • Genuine risk-reward tension collecting jewels.
  • Accessible rules suitable for families.
  • Variable river speed adds strong replayability.

Keep in mind

  • Losing a canoe over the falls can feel punishing.
  • Simultaneous card selection can cause unwanted collisions.
  • Less ideal experience with only two players.

Who it's for

Families and gamers ages 8+ who enjoy risk management and unique physical components, best with 3-5 players.
