About the game
Deckers challenges one to four players to hack into a network of five servers, working solo or cooperatively as a team that wins or loses together. Each server is guarded by a super-massive computer (SMC) with its own complexity level and unique defensive style, forcing players to adapt their approach each game. Players take on decker profiles with special abilities, moving across the server's spaces to upload pieces and expand their control while stripping away the SMC's defenses. New objectives arrive each round, building toward a final objective that determines victory. It's a deck/bag-building network-control game wrapped in a sleek sci-fi hacking theme.
Hobbli's Notes
Deckers looks like an ambitious, high-complexity entry in the growing field of deck-building network-control games, with a genuinely fresh hacking theme. As a very new release, there isn't yet a long track record to draw on, so some of this assessment leans on the game's own description rather than established play history. The variable SMC opponents and escalating objectives suggest strong replayability if the mechanics hold up as advertised.
What we like
- Strong solo and co-op support for one to four players.
- Deep deck/bag-building combined with network-building.
- Varied SMC opponents each with unique defense styles.
- Escalating round objectives maintain tension.
- Fresh, modern sci-fi hacking theme.
Keep in mind
- High complexity may be daunting for newer gamers.
- 90-minute playtime is substantial for a card-driven game.
- As a brand-new release, long-term replay value is still unproven.
Who it's for
Suited to solo and co-op strategy gamers aged 12 and up who enjoy deck/bag-building combined with network-building puzzles.
