About the game
The Hobbit: There & Back Again sends players through eight iconic chapters of Bilbo's journey, using a shared pool of drafted dice and a dry-erase adventure book to chart each hero's path. Players take turns choosing from freshly-rolled dice to overcome trolls, goblins, and eventually Smaug himself. Designed by Reiner Knizia, it blends push-your-luck dice drafting with flip-and-write style pathing across a beautifully illustrated campaign. A built-in solo mode and adjustable difficulty make it flexible for any group.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team enjoys how neatly this reimagines The Hobbit's story into bite-sized chapters that reward smart dice drafting rather than luck alone. The scoring pen-and-paper feel makes it quick to teach and quick to play, though the theme leans light rather than deeply strategic. It's a pleasant, breezy adventure game more than a heavy simulation of Middle-earth.
