About the game

Ace of Spades casts you as a vengeful gambler tracking down the necromancer who ruined your life, using poker-inspired card play instead of a six-shooter. Playable solo or as a two-player co-op, you channel magic through poker hands to whittle down Lord Overkill's minions before descending into Hell for a final duel. Cards and hand management drive tense duels against increasingly dangerous supernatural foes. It's a tight, narrative-soaked card game built for one or two players craving a dark-fantasy showdown.

Hobbli's Notes

We love the mash-up of poker mechanics with a gothic Weird West revenge story - it's a clever hook for a game this small in footprint. Because it plays in well under an hour and supports true solo play, it's an easy one to reach for on a quiet night. As a newer release, we haven't logged enough table time yet to know how it holds up over repeat plays.

What we like

  • Strong solo mode with meaningful hand-management decisions.
  • Atmospheric Weird West/horror theme woven into mechanics.
  • Fast setup and short (45-minute) playtime.
  • Works equally well solo or as a two-player co-op.

Keep in mind

  • Limited to 1-2 players so it won't work for group game nights.
  • As a new release, long-term replayability is still unproven.

Who it's for

Great for solo gamers or two players who enjoy card-based dueling games with a dark western/horror theme, ages 14 and up.
