About the game

Things in Rings is a deduction party game where a triple Venn diagram of Rings sits at the center of the table, each governed by secret logic rules known only to one player, The Knower. Everyone else holds a hand of object cards and takes turns trying to place a card into a Ring, succeeding if it fits the hidden rule and being redirected by The Knower if it doesn't. Rules can relate to spelling, grammar, physical properties, cultural relevance, or industry, and the first player to empty their hand by successfully placing all their cards wins.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team likes how Things in Rings turns lateral thinking into a genuinely fun social deduction party game, since every round's logic rule is a fresh little puzzle. Designating one player as The Knower keeps the group guessing together, which makes it a great mixed-age icebreaker. The game leans heavily on that one player understanding and running the rules well, so it can wobble a bit with an inexperienced facilitator.

What we like

  • Quick and easy to teach to new players.
  • Encourages creative, lateral thinking about categories.
  • Great for mixed-age groups including kids and adults.
  • High replayability thanks to varying logic rules.

Keep in mind

  • Relies heavily on The Knower running the rules well.
  • Can create some analysis paralysis for indecisive players.
  • Less appealing to players wanting strategic depth.

Who it's for

Fun for parties and family groups of 2-6, especially mixed-age gatherings who enjoy wordplay, deduction, and lighthearted guessing games.
