About the game

Deep Regrets is a strategic horror fishing game about pulling progressively more disturbing things out of the ocean. Each turn you roll bespoke tackle dice, then decide whether to keep fishing or return to port to sell your catch, restock provisions, and recharge. You'll survey shadowy fish shoals at three depths, weighing risk against reward as you catch weirder and more valuable specimens. Collecting unsettling Regrets cards boosts your power but drives up your madness, and the player with the most Regrets at the end must discard their best catch. A robust solo and co-op campaign mode lets you catalog every fish in the sea over dozens of games.

Hobbli's Notes

Deep Regrets nails the push-your-luck fishing fantasy with a genuinely creepy escalation curve: the deeper you push, the weirder (and better) your catch gets, but so does the cost. The solo campaign mode is a standout, giving long-term replayability rarely seen in games this size. It's a meaty evening at 150 minutes, so it rewards groups who like their strategy games with real stakes.

What we like

  • Robust solo and co-op campaign mode with dozens of games of content.
  • Push-your-luck dice fishing creates constant tension.
  • Growing Regrets mechanic adds a satisfying risk/reward spiral.
  • Rich, evocative horror-fishing theme woven into every system.
  • Scales from solo to full five-player table.

Keep in mind

  • 150-minute playtime is a big commitment for a card/dice game.
  • Higher complexity may be daunting for casual groups.
  • Bookkeeping around Regrets and madness can slow turns.
  • Downtime can build in larger player counts despite decent pacing.
