About the game
Surfosaurus MAX is a fast card game of betting, bluffing, and set collection built around seven suits numbered 01 to 12. On your turn you play a card from your hand and immediately draw a replacement, building toward the strongest possible combination across all players' played cards. When the target number of cards is reached, the winning combination is revealed, and everyone who contributed a card to it scores. Its semi-cooperative structure means you're often rooting for the same combination as your rivals, at least until the very end.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team finds the semi-cooperative scoring twist in Surfosaurus MAX creates interesting table dynamics - you want to contribute to a winning hand, but not let any one player benefit too much. It's a light, quick filler well suited to a snack-break between heavier games.
What we like
- Semi-cooperative scoring creates interesting shifting alliances.
- Very fast 20-minute playtime suits filler slots.
- Supports a wide range of 2-6 players.
- Simple card-and-draw structure is easy to teach.
Keep in mind
- Niche release with limited market presence outside dedicated collectors.
- Semi-cooperative mechanics can feel chaotic or hard to plan around.
- Light depth may not satisfy players seeking more strategy.
Who it's for
Good for casual groups aged 10+ looking for a light, quick semi-cooperative card game for 2-6 players.
