About the game
In Critter Kitchen, 1-5 players compete during Restaurant Week in Bistro Bay, sending chefs out to gather ingredients and cooking up dishes to impress a celebrity food critic. Each round, new ingredients appear around the city, and players secretly and simultaneously choose where to send their three chefs, balancing fast single-item runners against slower chefs who can carry more. Challenges across the first six rounds award stars for specific dishes, before a final epic meal in round seven determines who truly satisfies the critic. Variable critics, rumors, and restaurateurs keep every playthrough different.
Hobbli's Notes
Critter Kitchen wraps a tight worker-placement puzzle in an irresistibly cute critter-chef theme, and the simultaneous secret planning keeps everyone engaged at once. The shifting critic preferences give it solid replay value for a relatively new release. As a 2025 title, it hasn't built up a long play history yet, so treat some of our read on its long-term legs as an educated guess.
What we like
- Charming critter-chef theme with varied cooking challenges each round.
- Simultaneous secret planning keeps downtime low.
- Shifting critic preferences and rumors add variety across games.
- Includes a solid solo mode.
Keep in mind
- Simultaneous placement can lead to conflicts over popular locations.
- As a newer title, long-term replay value is still unproven.
- The variety of ingredient and chef icons may overwhelm younger players at first.
Who it's for
Fun for families and casual groups aged 8+ who enjoy light worker-placement puzzles with a charming animal theme; 1-5 players.
