About the game

Kutná Hora: The City of Silver is a historical city-building euro set during the boom of a real silver-mining town in 14th-century Bohemia. Players mine ore, purchase plots of land, gain permits, raise guild buildings, and work toward constructing Saint Barbara's Cathedral, all using a hand of double-sided action cards. Every action feeds into a dynamic shared supply-and-demand economy, meaning your choices ripple out to affect what other players can do. Asymmetric guild powers make each player's path through the city noticeably different.

Hobbli's Notes

Kutná Hora stands out for its genuinely reactive economic system: prices and availability shift with every player's actions, so the table stays interactive even in a fairly heavy euro. This is a newer, more niche title for us, so we'd treat our comparisons as a helpful starting point rather than a definitive read.

What we like

  • Rich, genuinely interconnected supply-and-demand economic systems.
  • Asymmetric guild powers create varied strategies between players.
  • Strong historical city-building theme tied to a real silver-mining boom.
  • Satisfying chains of resource conversion toward the cathedral.

Keep in mind

  • High complexity with a steep learning curve for newcomers.
  • Long playtime typical of heavier economic euros.
  • Dense rules and shared-economy interactions can overwhelm casual players.

Who it's for

Best for experienced euro gamers 13+ who enjoy interconnected economic systems and asymmetric guild powers, in groups of 2-4.
