About the game

Barrage places players in a dystopian 1930s where hydroelectric power has become the key to industrial dominance. As one of four competing companies, you'll construct dams, raise them to increase storage capacity, and route pressurized water through tunnels to your power stations. Over five rounds, you'll fulfill a shared power-demand track while chasing personal contracts, all while a limited pool of engineers determines who gets first pick of the best construction actions. The tactile dam and pipe components make your growing infrastructure feel tangible and real. It's a tightly wound, resource-heavy euro game of industrial-scale competition.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team is impressed by how tactile and satisfying the dam-building components feel at the table: watching your network of pipes and turbines grow is genuinely rewarding. The tight worker-placement competition for engineers creates real tension every round. It's a long, dense game that demands real investment before its systems click into place. Best suited for groups who already enjoy heavy euro games and want something with unusually strong physical presence.

What we like

  • Satisfying, tactile dam and pipeline components make progress feel tangible.
  • Deep, interlocking resource engine rewards careful planning.
  • Tight worker-placement competition creates real tension each round.
  • Well-regarded solo mode extends its appeal.

Keep in mind

  • Long playtime and heavy rules overhead require real commitment.
  • High downtime between turns, especially with more players.
  • Can feel punishing to newer players facing veteran opponents.

Who it's for

Best for experienced heavy-euro gamers (14+) who enjoy resource management and worker placement, in groups of 2-4 or solo.
