About the game

Witchcraft! is a fast-playing, card-driven solitaire game in which you lead a coven of witches defending an isolated village from monstrous threats while hiding your true nature from suspicious villagers. Built on the hidden/revealed mechanism from Resist!, you choose when to unveil magic to overcome challenges: risking exposure and imprisonment for witchcraft. You'll assemble a coven from family-based cards, each specializing in revealing challenges, boosting attacks, uncovering jurors' leanings, or capturing helpful familiars. With three jurors chosen from eight, each facing a unique monster like the Headless Horseman or Baba Yaga, the setup offers dozens of possible combinations. It's a tense race to complete your missions and survive the trial that follows.

Hobbli's Notes

We like how Witchcraft! turns its hidden/revealed magic mechanism into a genuine risk-reward puzzle: every use of magic edges you closer to both power and exposure. The variable juror and villain combinations give this solo game solid replay value despite its compact 40-minute playtime. As a fairly new, niche solo title, we haven't seen extensive community feedback yet, so some caution is warranted on long-term depth. Fans of narrative-driven solo card games should find plenty to enjoy here.

What we like

  • Clever hidden/revealed magic mechanism creates real risk-reward tension.
  • Highly variable juror and villain combinations boost replayability.
  • Compact 40-minute playtime fits easily into a solo session.
  • Strong atmospheric folklore/horror theme.

Keep in mind

  • Solo-only design (1 player) won't suit group game nights.
  • As a newer, niche title, community feedback and long-term balance are still limited.
  • Card-driven resolution may feel abstract compared to more tactile games.

Who it's for

Best suited to solo gamers aged 10-12+ who enjoy narrative-driven card play, deck management, and fantasy/horror themes.
