About the game
Triqueta is a set-collection drafting game for 2-5 players designed by Stefan Dorra and Ralf zur Linde. Over four rounds, players draft animal tokens arranged in rows, trying to gather three of a kind to complete a 'triqueta' for bonus points: but collecting more than three of the same animal costs points instead. Timing is everything as players watch rival choices to grab the row that best suits their collection. Newer printings include the 'Hidden Wolves' expansion built directly into the base game.
Hobbli's Notes
Triqueta's row-drafting mechanic creates a nice tension between grabbing what you need now and leaving good options for rivals. The push-your-luck element of exceeding three-of-a-kind and losing points is a smart way to keep collections in check. At just 30 minutes and low complexity, it's an easy, family-friendly set-collection game. Fans of clever drafting puzzles from designers like Stefan Dorra should enjoy its tight, replayable structure.
What we like

- Newer editions bundle in the Hidden Wolves expansion.
Keep in mind
- Light strategic depth may not satisfy heavier gamers.
- Luck of token distribution can swing early rounds.
- Animal-set theme is light and largely abstract.
