About the game
Cyberion is a cooperative, hand-management game for 1-2 players set inside a collapsing factory of dreams that's been sabotaged by the mysterious Evil Cogs. As the head of a robot squad, you play robot cards either to repair damaged machine cards or to trigger their powerful special effects, racing against mounting failures before everything implodes. Machines become progressively harder to repair as the game goes on, but players also gain opportunities to boost the strength of their robots' effects to keep pace. With a playtime around 40 minutes, it delivers a tight, escalating puzzle that works equally well solo or as a two-player cooperative experience. Its imaginative science-fiction premise gives a fairly abstract hand-management engine a vivid, urgent framing.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team likes how Cyberion builds real tension purely through escalating difficulty and a shrinking margin for error, all within a tight 40-minute session. It handles solo and two-player cooperative play equally well, which is a nice bit of flexibility for game night planning. The dream-factory premise is a fun, unusual hook for what is at heart a tech-track and hand-management puzzle. As a newer 2023 release, it's still building its reputation, but the core loop is tense and satisfying.
What we like
- Tight cooperative hand-management puzzle playable solo or with a partner.
- Escalating machine-repair difficulty creates satisfying mounting tension.
- Quick 40-minute playtime fits neatly into a single session.
- Tech-track progression rewards planning ahead.
- Imaginative sci-fi 'factory of dreams' premise stands out.
Keep in mind
- Limited to 1-2 players, restricting group play.
- Narrative framing is thinner than the vivid premise suggests.
- Replayability depends on the variety of cards encountered.
- As a newer release, it has a limited track record so far.
Who it's for
