About the game
Nekojima is a wooden dexterity game set on Japan's real-life 'Island of Cats,' where players build a precarious electrical network of poles and cables without disturbing the cats perched on the wires. Taking turns placing or stacking denchuu (electrical poles), players must keep the whole structure balanced -- whoever brings it down loses in competitive mode, or the group tries to go as far as possible together in cooperative mode. It rewards a steady hand, careful planning, and nerves of steel as the tower grows more unstable. Its charming cat theme and tactile wooden pieces make it an instant crowd-pleaser.
Hobbli's Notes
Nekojima is a delightfully tense little dexterity game -- the anticipation of each precarious placement makes for great tabletop drama, and the cooperative mode is a nice option for groups who want the tension without the elimination sting. It's won several family and dexterity game awards for good reason: it's simple to teach, quick to play, and consistently fun. A great gateway game for younger or casual players.
