About the game

Kites is a fast, real-time cooperative game where players work together to keep colorful sand-timer 'kites' from running out. Everyone plays cards simultaneously, flipping timers and coordinating calls to make sure no kite crashes before the deck runs dry. Optional complication cards ramp up the challenge for repeat plays. It is a light, high-energy team game that rewards quick communication over strategy.

Hobbli's Notes

Kites is a delightfully chaotic little coop game that gets a table talking and laughing within minutes. The real-time pressure of flipping sand timers creates a fun sense of urgency without ever feeling mean-spirited. It scales nicely up to six players and the rules are light enough to teach almost instantly. A great palate cleanser between heavier games.

What we like

  • Extremely fast setup and playtime make it perfect as a filler.
  • Real-time cooperative play generates genuine excitement and laughter.
  • Scales well from two players up to six.
  • Complication cards add replayability for experienced groups.

Keep in mind

  • Very light strategic depth for gamers wanting more decisions.
  • The frantic pace may not suit players who prefer calm, measured games.
