About the game

A Gentle Rain is a meditative solo tile-placement puzzle in which you place lake tiles to coax all eight kinds of water lilies into bloom before the rain ends and your tiles run out. Each tile must match the colors of its neighboring edges, and completing a square of four touching tiles causes a blossom to open between them. With no combat, competition, or scoring pressure required, it's designed purely as a relaxing solitaire pastime. Its short playtime and calm pace make it an easy game to unwind with.

Hobbli's Notes

A Gentle Rain is less a 'game to win' than a quiet puzzle to sit with, and it succeeds beautifully at that modest goal. The tile-matching puzzle has just enough spatial challenge to stay engaging without ever feeling stressful. It's a lovely palate-cleanser between heavier games or a nice way to decompress solo.

What we like

  • Purely relaxing solo experience with no combat or direct competition.
  • Simple tile-matching rules are easy to learn.
  • Short playtime fits easily into a quick break.
  • Compact size makes it convenient to travel with.

Keep in mind

  • Single-player only, so it can't be shared at the table.
  • Very light challenge may feel too simple for puzzle enthusiasts.
  • Minimal replay variety since the core puzzle stays similar each time.
