About the game

Comic Hunters puts 1-4 players in the shoes of dedicated comic book collectors racing to track down rare, must-have issues: first appearances, iconic new costumes, and memorable confrontations. Across three rounds, you'll visit comic shops to purchase cards, then build out hero-specific collections that advance you along five different Spotlight Icon tracks. The further you push along each track, the more points your collection earns, and total card count matters too. Whoever amasses the most points across three rounds is crowned the greatest comic collector of all time.

Hobbli's Notes

Comic Hunters channels genuine nerdy joy into its set-collection structure: chasing down that all-important 'issue #1' or big crossover event feels satisfying even in card form. The five-track scoring system gives real depth to what could otherwise be a simple collection game, letting different collecting strategies pay off. It's a nice, moderate-weight pick for comic fans, though non-fans of the hobby may find the theme less resonant than the mechanics deserve.

What we like

  • Five distinct scoring tracks add welcome strategic depth.
  • Comic-collecting theme resonates strongly with hobby fans.
  • Solo mode adds flexibility beyond group play.
  • Manageable 60-minute runtime.

Keep in mind

  • Theme may feel niche to players outside comic fandom.
  • Auction and drafting elements can create some analysis paralysis.
  • Less well-known title, so comparisons to other games are less certain.
