About the game

Kokopelli has each player drawing from a personal 36-card deck built from ceremony cards, played onto a board with spaces for four active ceremonies. Because your play area also overlaps with your nearest neighbors' spaces, cards you play can benefit them too, and vice versa. Completing a ceremony with its fourth card earns a victory point tile and grants a special ability while active. The player with the most victory points when the game ends wins.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's editorial team, always fond of Stefan Feld's clever engine designs, likes how Kokopelli's shared neighbor spaces create unusual give-and-take between players. It plays quickly for a Feld title while still offering real strategic tension. A good gateway into Feld's design style for groups intimidated by his heavier games.

What we like

  • Clever neighbor-interaction mechanic ties players' boards together.
  • Quick 60-minute playtime for a Feld design.
  • Ceremony abilities create varied strategic paths.
  • Card-driven simplicity keeps rules relatively light.

Keep in mind

  • Shared neighbor spaces can create blocking and conflict.
  • Scoring pace may feel slow to build early in the game.
  • Limited thematic depth beyond its mechanisms.

Who it's for

Good for euro-strategy fans age 12+ who enjoy Stefan Feld-style engine games, in groups of two to four.
