About the game

Veiled Fate is a social deduction game for 2-8 players where each is secretly assigned one of nine divine Demigods as their offspring, though everyone can control any Demigod's actions during the game. Through positional play, hidden voting Fate Cards, and quest resolution, players try to boost their own Demigod's Renown while misdirecting opponents about their true lineage. Revealing your identity too early risks other players ganging up against your Demigod. Over three ages, the Demigod with the most Renown becomes heir to the throne.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team finds Veiled Fate to be an ambitious blend of hidden-role deduction and light strategic questing, with secret voting adding a clever layer of misdirection. The mechanic of controlling any Demigod (not just your own) creates fascinating bluffing opportunities. It's a great pick for groups who enjoy social deduction with a strategic backbone rather than pure bluffing. A strong choice for larger parties wanting something more strategic than typical party games.

What we like

  • Unique mechanic of controlling any Demigod adds fascinating bluffing depth.
  • Secret voting Fate Cards create tense misdirection.
  • Scales well for larger groups up to 8 players.
  • Combines social deduction with genuine strategic decision-making.

Keep in mind

  • Relatively niche title with limited community track record.
  • Hidden-role games can be tough for players who dislike being targeted.
  • Rules around Fate Cards and quests may need a few plays to click.

Who it's for

Great for larger groups of 4-8 (14+) who enjoy social deduction and hidden-role strategy games.
