About the game

Townsfolk Tussle is a cooperative boss-battler for 1-5 players defending the town of Eureka Springs after the loss of its sheriff. Players gear up their townsfolk, explore the town, and team up to take down four unique Ruffians, each tougher than the last. Variable setups and team-based coordination let players develop distinct strategies against each boss. It supports solo play as well as full team battles, with sessions running around 200 minutes.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli enjoys the humorous, boss-battler premise Townsfolk Tussle brings to cooperative play, complete with characterful miniatures. Variable setups keep repeated boss fights from feeling stale. It's a fairly hefty time investment for a co-op game, and being a more niche, licensed release, some of the finer comparisons here are less certain. Groups who enjoy long cooperative campaigns against escalating bosses should find plenty to like.

What we like

  • Humorous, story-driven co-op boss-battle premise.
  • Variable setups keep replaying against the same bosses feeling fresh.
  • Playable solo or with a full team of five.
  • Miniatures add strong tabletop presence.

Keep in mind

  • Long playtime (around 200 minutes) demands a serious commitment.
  • Moderate downtime while waiting through other players' turns (downtime grade C).
  • Niche, licensed property may limit its broad appeal.
