About the game

Marvel Villainous: Infinite Power lets players dominate the Marvel universe as one of several iconic comic book villains, including Hela, Killmonger, Taskmaster, Thanos, or Ultron, each pursuing a unique path to victory. Players move their villain between locations in their own domain, carry out location actions, and deal twists of fate to opponents from a shared Fate deck. Three game modes let players scale difficulty by adjusting the number of events, which extract a toll on villains until resolved. Specialty cards deepen each villain's unique abilities, and beginner-to-advanced options make it playable across a wide range of experience levels.

Hobbli's Notes

This is a well-crafted entry in the Villainous line that channels Marvel's roster into genuinely distinct asymmetric playstyles. Each villain plays differently enough that the game holds up over many sessions, and the scalable difficulty modes are a smart touch for mixed groups. It leans toward a 'multiplayer solitaire' feel since most of your turn happens on your own board, but the fantasy of embodying a specific villain more than makes up for it.

What we like

  • Deep asymmetric villain powers create unique playstyles.
  • Strong Marvel theming and high card quality.
  • Scalable difficulty via multiple game modes.
  • High replayability with several villains and expansions.
  • Distinct player boards reduce direct conflict pressure.

Keep in mind

  • Rules and card text can be complex for newcomers.
  • Fate deck 'take that' cards can feel swingy.
  • Largely solitaire-style play reduces direct interaction.

Who it's for

Great for Marvel fans and asymmetric strategy game enthusiasts aged 12 and up, playing in groups of two to four.
