About the game

Battle Line: Medieval reskins Reiner Knizia's celebrated two-player card game Schotten-Totten with a Medieval warfare theme. Players build powerful formations of troop cards along nine battle flags, aiming to win five flags outright or three in a row for a breakthrough victory. Ten new tactics wildcards add extra flexibility and unpredictable swings to each skirmish. It's a tight, tense strategy duel that plays in about 30 minutes.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli still considers the Battle Line system one of Knizia's tightest two-player designs: this Medieval-themed edition doesn't change the core brilliance, just gives it fresh art and a couple of new wrinkles.

What we like

  • Elegant, tightly designed two-player card strategy.
  • Quick 30-minute playtime.
  • Tactics wildcards add extra depth and variability.
  • Built on Reiner Knizia's well-regarded Schotten-Totten system.

Keep in mind

  • Strictly a two-player experience.
  • Theme is a reskin layered over an existing game system.
  • Can feel repetitive across many consecutive plays.

Who it's for

Ideal for two-player card game and strategy fans aged 12+ who enjoy tight tactical decisions in a quick 30-minute format.
