About the game
Catan: Starfarers reimagines the classic Catan formula in deep space, sending settlers across a variable, modular galaxy to colonize alien planets and trade with strange new species. Compared to base Catan, resources flow more freely through market trades and NPC race bonuses, keeping the game moving even when the dice don't cooperate. Negotiated trades still matter but are less central, letting exploration and colonization strategy take center stage. Encounter pirates, wormholes, and alien traders as you push further into uncharted systems. It's a fresh, sci-fi-flavored evolution of the beloved Catan trading and building experience.

We appreciate how Starfarers smooths out some of Catan's rougher luck-dependent edges with market trades and catch-up mechanics for trailing players. The variable board and NPC races add welcome variety across sessions. It runs longer than base Catan, so it asks for a bit more patience, but fans of the original will find plenty of familiar comfort dressed in a fun space theme. A strong pick for groups who've worn out their Catan board and want a new galaxy to explore.
