About the game

Obscurio is a cooperative party game with a hidden traitor twist. One player, the Grimoire, guides the team through a library of illusions using an image book, pointing out visual clues while avoiding tipping off the traitor hidden among the other players. The team must escape the Sorcerer's library by correctly interpreting the images before the traitor leads them astray. Rich illustrated cards and tight communication limits make every clue matter.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli finds Obscurio's marriage of gorgeous, detail-packed art with hidden-traitor tension genuinely clever: it rewards careful looking as much as careful talking. It shines especially with larger groups looking for a thinky party game.

What we like

  • Gorgeous, detail-rich artwork central to the puzzle.
  • Blends communication-limited co-op with hidden traitor tension.
  • Scales well to larger groups up to 8 players.
  • Quick to teach despite its layered gameplay.

Keep in mind

  • Downtime can rise noticeably with a full 8-player table.
  • Success depends heavily on interpreting vague visual clues, which can frustrate some players.
  • The traitor's random assignment means a session can feel unbalanced by luck.

Who it's for

Best for larger family or party groups of 4-8, ages 10+, who enjoy hidden-role and communication-limited games.
