About the game
Disney Villainous: Wicked to the Core lets each player control one of three classic Disney villains: the Evil Queen, Hades, or Dr. Facilier: each pursuing a unique win condition on their own player board. On your turn you move your character, take actions like playing cards from your hand, and refill up to four cards, all while using the fate deck to sabotage your rivals. Because every villain plays completely differently, mastering the game means learning three distinct strategic puzzles. It's fully compatible with the original Villainous base game for even more villainous match-ups.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's editorial team loves how thoroughly each villain's board captures their movie's personality, turning a simple card game into three genuinely different puzzles. The fate deck's ability to sabotage opponents adds satisfying (if occasionally swingy) player interaction. Balance between the three included villains isn't perfectly even, which serious competitive players may notice. For Disney fans and casual family gamers, though, it's an easy, thematic recommendation.
What we like
- Unique asymmetric win conditions keep each villain feeling distinct.
- Strong Disney nostalgia appeal for fans of the source films.
- Playable standalone or combined with the base Villainous game.
- Moderate sixty-minute playtime suits a family game night.
Keep in mind
- Balance between the three villains can feel uneven at times.
- Fate-deck sabotage mechanics can create swingy interference.
- Limited to three players in this particular box.
Who it's for
Great for families and Disney fans (10+) in groups of 2-3 looking for an asymmetric strategy card game with strong theming.
