About the game
Unicorn Fever is a lighthearted betting game where players wager on magical racing unicorns whose progress is determined by a semi-automated 'AI' race mechanism. Before each of four races, players spend three actions to buy contracts, cast magic spells, hire shady fairy-realm characters, or place bets on victory and podium finishes. Once the race begins, players can only watch, cheer, and occasionally intervene as the unicorns dash toward the finish line. Victory points and gold are earned for successful bets, with riskier long-shot wagers paying out the most. It's a playful mix of racing spectacle and strategic wagering.
Hobbli's Notes
The self-running race mechanism is a clever hook: watching your bets play out is genuinely exciting, even though you can't directly control the unicorns. It works best as a boisterous party experience rather than a deep strategy game. Great for groups who enjoy a bit of chaos and cheering alongside their strategic wagering.
