About the game
Indian Summer is the second entry in Uwe Rosenberg's puzzle trilogy, following Cottage Garden, casting players as forest wanderers collecting nuts, berries, mushrooms, and feathers before winter arrives. Using a rondel and pattern-building puzzle tiles with cut-out holes, you cover your forest board's treasures while racing to be the first to blanket your board completely in leaves. Its tight tile-fitting puzzle rewards spatial planning and efficient use of your available shapes. Gorgeous autumnal art brings the fleeting beauty of the season to life.
Hobbli's Notes
Rosenberg's puzzle trilogy games are always satisfying tile-fitting exercises, and Indian Summer's forest theme and rondel-based tile drafting give it a distinct feel from Cottage Garden. It's aimed squarely at experienced puzzle-game fans rather than newcomers, with tighter, more punishing spatial constraints. The autumnal presentation is genuinely lovely and a highlight of the experience.
What we like
- Satisfying spatial tile-fitting puzzle with genuine depth.
- Beautiful autumnal art and forest theme.
- Rondel-based drafting adds a layer of tactical planning.
- Solo mode makes it flexible for single-player puzzle sessions.
Keep in mind
- Aimed at experienced puzzle fans, so it may frustrate newcomers.
- Some overlap in feel with other games in Rosenberg's trilogy may reduce novelty for series fans.
Who it's for
Best for 1-4 players aged 10+ who enjoy tight spatial puzzles and tile-fitting games in the vein of Patchwork.
