About the game

LYNGK synthesizes concepts from the six games of Kris Burm's celebrated GIPF Project into one elegant two-player abstract. Using 48 pieces across six colors, players choose two colors to champion as the game progresses and colors shift ownership. The goal is to build stacks of five differently colored pieces topped by your own color. Deep tactical planning and multiple possible moves per turn reward players who can think several steps ahead.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team considers LYNGK a superb capstone to the GIPF Project, distilling its best ideas into a tighter, more accessible package. It's purely a two-player game with zero luck, rewarding careful planning and pattern recognition. As with most abstracts in this vein, the lack of theme means it won't appeal to players looking for narrative or randomness.

What we like

  • Elegant, deep strategy built from simple rules.
  • Purely two-player design focused on head-to-head play.
  • Part of the celebrated GIPF Project lineage.
  • Variable setups keep the game replayable.
  • No luck element whatsoever.

Keep in mind

  • Strictly limited to two players.
  • Steep learning curve for optimal play.
  • Abstract theme won't appeal to narrative-driven gamers.

Who it's for
