About the game

Big in Japan is an expansion for the base-bashing card game Smash Up, adding four new factions inspired by Japanese pop culture: fighting anime girls, adorable collectible critters, colorful sentai-style fighters, and a Godzilla-esque kaiju. Players mix any two factions together to build a deck, then compete to score the most points by smashing shared bases. Fast turns, minion-and-action card combos, and take-that interactions keep the chaos flowing. This set adds a lighthearted, playful spin to the core Smash Up formula. It's an easy add-on for existing fans wanting fresh faction combinations.

Hobbli's Notes

Big in Japan is a fun, faithful expansion that adds welcome variety to Smash Up's faction-mixing formula. Hobbli's team enjoys the playful pop-culture parody factions, especially the kaiju-sized Godzilla stand-in crashing into bases. As with all Smash Up expansions, it shines brightest when combined with other factions already in your collection. It won't convert non-fans, but it's a great pickup for anyone who already loves the base game.
