About the game
Escape Room: The Game brings the escape-room experience home with a companion Chrono Decoder device and four themed 60-minute puzzle scenarios: Prison Break, Virus, Nuclear Countdown, and Temple of the Aztec. Teams work cooperatively to solve physical and logical puzzles using cards, keys, shapes, and codes while a real-time countdown ticks away. Hint cards help stuck teams keep moving, and entering a wrong solution costs precious minutes. Each scenario increases in difficulty, giving new and experienced puzzle-solvers a satisfying challenge. It's the couch-friendly answer to the immersive live escape rooms sweeping pop culture.
Hobbli's Notes
This was one of the games that really brought escape rooms into living rooms, and the Chrono Decoder gimmick still gives a good jolt of urgency. The four scenarios vary a lot in quality and difficulty, with some feeling more polished than others. Once you've solved all four, the game has no more replay value unless you buy expansions, which is worth flagging for buyers. Great for a one-off party night, less so as a repeatable staple.
