About the game

Museum casts players as museum curators at the turn of the 20th century, racing to build the biggest, most coherent collection of historical relics. Starting with a small collection, you send explorers worldwide to uncover new relics, spending or trading pieces to add items to your museum while managing a shared reserve that rivals can also draw from. Patron and explorer cards grant bonuses for completing themed or period-based collections, while event cards inject historical twists. With over 300 illustrations by Vincent Dutrait, it's a richly themed collection and bartering game with light trading interaction.

Hobbli's Notes

Museum stands out for its gorgeous Vincent Dutrait artwork and the clever twist that your discarded relics remain accessible to opponents through the shared reserve; that little wrinkle keeps everyone paying attention to the table state. The collection-building puzzle is satisfying without being overly heavy, making it approachable for moderately experienced gamers. It doesn't break new mechanical ground, but the theme and presentation elevate it above typical set-collection games.

What we like

  • Beautiful artwork and authentic architectural/historical theming.
  • Shared reserve mechanic adds a clever layer of interaction.
  • Multiple collection categories and patron bonuses add variety.
  • Approachable rules for a set-collection game with real depth.

Keep in mind

  • Set-collection core mechanics aren't especially novel.
  • Some downtime as players evaluate the shared reserve and market.
  • Solo mode was a Kickstarter exclusive, limiting access for retail buyers.

Who it's for
