About the game

Lotus is a set-collection card game where players compete to grow and claim flowers across four lotus gardens, playing cards to add petals and trigger creature effects tied to each garden. Once a garden is full, the player with the most influence there claims the flower, while others may sabotage or steal petals along the way. The tableau of colorful, layered flower cards makes for a visually striking table state that changes with every play. It supports 1-4 players in about 30 minutes, including a solo variant.

Hobbli's Notes

Lotus offers a surprisingly deep set-collection puzzle in a small, pretty package. We appreciate that it supports solo play as well as small groups, making it a flexible addition to any collection. It won't satisfy players seeking a heavier strategic challenge, but as a quick, elegant filler it delivers.

What we like

  • Compact 30-minute playtime fits easily into casual game sessions.
  • Visually striking layered card tableau makes every game look unique.
  • Includes a solo mode, extending its appeal beyond group play.
  • Light rules make it accessible to newer gamers.

Keep in mind

  • Light strategic depth may not satisfy dedicated strategy gamers.
  • Take-that style stealing can feel harsh in an otherwise relaxed game.
  • Limited to 4 players, capping group size.

Who it's for

Good for casual and family gamers who enjoy quick, pretty set-collection card games with light take-that interaction; the solo mode suits single-player fans too.
