About the game

XenoShyft: Dreadmire drops players onto the marsh planet of Genesis VII to defend against waves of horrifying new enemies using the acclaimed XenoShyft deckbuilding system. Each player builds up a personal deck of troop and item cards, deploying them to hold the line against escalating alien threats in tense base-defense combat. Playable as a standalone game or combined with assets from XenoShyft: Onslaught, Dreadmire adds eight new troop types, twenty new items, and over forty enemy types to the experience. The cooperative structure rewards careful resource management and team coordination as the waves intensify. It's a satisfying blend of deckbuilding and tower-defense tension for horror and sci-fi fans.

Hobbli's Notes

XenoShyft was already a standout cooperative deckbuilder, and Dreadmire's swampy new enemies and item pool keep the formula feeling fresh. We especially like that it works solo just as well as it does with a full table. The escalating difficulty can punish early missteps, so newer deckbuilders may want to start with easier scenarios.

What we like

  • Combines deckbuilding with tense tower-defense combat.
  • Strong cooperative teamwork drives every session.
  • Solid solo mode for single-player deckbuilding fans.
  • Standalone or combinable with XenoShyft: Onslaught for variety.
  • Wide range of new troops, items, and enemy types.

Keep in mind

  • Cooperative deckbuilders can suffer from quarterbacking.
  • Escalating waves can punish sub-optimal early decisions.
  • Heavier complexity may not suit casual groups.

Who it's for

Great for cooperative-game fans ages 14 and up who enjoy deckbuilding and base-defense tension, solo or in groups up to four.
