About the game

Risk: Star Wars Edition reimagines the climactic battles of Return of the Jedi for 2 or 4 players across a TIE fighter-shaped board. Players choose the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire and fight across three simultaneous battles using the classic Risk dice system, all building toward the fate of the Death Star. Hand management and variable player powers give each faction its own flavor. It's a quicker, more focused take on Risk wrapped in familiar Star Wars iconography.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli sees this as a fun, faster-playing riff on classic Risk that trades sprawling world conquest for a tighter, thematic Star Wars showdown. The multiple concurrent battles keep the shorter 45-minute playtime lively and low on downtime. It's an easy way to introduce Star Wars fans or Risk veterans to a leaner combat experience. Just don't expect it to shed the dice-driven randomness that defines the Risk system.

What we like

  • Faster and more focused than classic Risk (only 45 minutes).
  • Strong Return of the Jedi theming throughout.
  • Very low downtime for a wargame-style title (downtime grade A).
  • Accessible dice-based combat for casual players.

Keep in mind

  • Dice-driven combat carries significant luck.
  • Limited strategic depth for serious wargamers.
  • Licensed reskin may feel familiar to long-time Risk players.

Who it's for

Great for Star Wars fans and casual wargamers aged 10+ in groups of 2 or 4 wanting a quicker Risk experience.
