About the game
Ponzi Scheme casts players as scammers luring investors into fraudulent funds promising extreme returns, taking on Fund cards and matching Industry tiles that come with a growing dividend obligation. Players can strike private "inside trades" to buy or sell Industries at negotiated prices, all while the Time Wheel advances and payments come due. The goal is simple: don't be the first to go bankrupt. When someone finally can't pay, whoever built the biggest shell corporation wins.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's editors enjoy the darkly comic premise and the sharp-elbowed negotiation of inside trades: there's real tension in deciding when to cash out on a rival before the dividends catch up with you.
What we like
- Clever satirical theme built around financial fraud.
- Inside-trading mechanic encourages sharp negotiation.
- Escalating dividend pressure builds mounting tension.
- Last-player-standing structure keeps everyone engaged until the end.
Keep in mind
- Elimination mechanic knocks bankrupt players out early.
- Heavy negotiation may not suit players who dislike direct dealing.
- Snowballing debt can feel punishing once a player falls behind.
