About the game

Salem 1692 is a hidden-role bluffing game set amid the infamous Salem witch trials. Players take on the roles of townsfolk, some secretly witches, others innocent villagers, and use accusation and defense cards to sway public suspicion. As tension mounts, accused players must reveal one of their hidden Tryal cards, gradually exposing who is truly a witch. Villagers win once all witches are uncovered, while witches try to escape detection and turn the town against itself. Packaged in a faux antique book box, it's an atmospheric party game of paranoia, deduction, and betrayal for larger groups.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team enjoys how Salem 1692 channels real historical paranoia into a tense social deduction experience: accusing the wrong person can feel genuinely uncomfortable in the best way. The faux-book packaging is a fantastic thematic touch that makes it a great conversation piece as well as a game. With support for up to 12 players, it's an excellent choice for larger parties looking for a hidden-role game with bite. The long playtime and high downtime at bigger counts mean it's best suited to groups who enjoy talking and scheming as much as playing cards.

What we like

  • Supports large groups of up to 12 players, ideal for parties.
  • Thematic faux-book packaging adds real atmosphere to the game.
  • Rich hidden-role deduction with meaningful accusation mechanics.
  • Historical witch-trial theme creates genuine tension and paranoia.

Keep in mind

  • High downtime score suggests long waits between turns in big groups.
