About the game

In Trambahn, two players compete to expand Munich's historic tram network at the turn of the 20th century. Cards do triple duty as passengers, potential stops, and payment, forcing constant trade-offs on every turn. Building new routes means matching colors and placing stops in ascending order while also ferrying passengers to score points. With charming postcard-style art depicting old Munich, it's a tight, clever two-player card game that rewards careful planning.

Hobbli's Notes

Trambahn packs a lot of decision-making into a small footprint, and we love how the same handful of cards can be read three different ways depending on the situation. It's the kind of quiet, cerebral duel that rewards replays as you start to see the tram network unfold in new patterns. Not a game for the group that wants noise and chaos, but a lovely date-night or lunch-break puzzle for two sharp minds.

What we like

  • Multi-use cards create constant interesting trade-offs.
  • Quick 45-minute playtime keeps the game tight and replayable.
  • Charming historical Munich theme and postcard artwork.
  • Low downtime keeps both players engaged throughout.

Keep in mind

  • Strictly two-player, so it won't work for larger groups.
  • Abstract scoring system may feel dry to narrative-focused players.

Who it's for

Best for two players who enjoy tight, thinky card games; ideal for couples or friends who like quick, strategic duels rather than long campaigns.
