About the game
Transatlantic puts players in charge of rival steamship companies during the golden age of transatlantic travel, from 1870 to the dawn of WWI. Players purchase historically accurate steamships, compete for the prestigious Blue Riband speed record, and build networks of coal bunkers and trade posts. A deck-building card-driven system lets you improve your available actions turn by turn as you manage freight, mail, and passengers. It's a low-luck maritime strategy game full of tough, interactive decisions.
Hobbli's Notes
Mac Gerdts' action-retrieval deck-building system shines here, giving Transatlantic a satisfying engine-building feel layered onto a rich shipping-industry theme. It's a game for players who enjoy tight economic competition without heavy luck getting in the way.
