About the game
Chimera Station brings a fresh twist to worker placement with fully customizable workers that players can modify in-game by splicing on claws, tentacles, leaves, or extra brains. These aliens gather resources including points, food, credits, and even more living worker parts, while players build and expand a modular space station over the course of the game. With 12 standard action spaces plus 40 additional modules, 22 perks, 16 ways to configure your aliens, and 4 distinct races, Chimera Station offers a huge range of strategic combinations.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team is drawn to the inventive customizable-worker mechanism, which turns a familiar worker placement framework into something distinctly its own. The expanding station board and varied alien races give it real strategic depth and replay value. It carries moderate-heavy complexity and some downtime, so it plays best with a group already comfortable with worker placement games.
What we like
- Unique customizable worker mechanism unlike typical worker placement.
- Expanding station board adds meaningful strategic depth.
- Distinctive sci-fi theme with striking artwork.
- High replayability from four different playable races.
Keep in mind
- Moderate-heavy complexity requires real teaching time.
- Some downtime as players plan intricate worker builds.
- Worker customization can slow down early rounds.
Who it's for
Suited to Euro gamers in groups of 2-4 who enjoy worker placement with a sci-fi twist and don't mind a moderately heavy rules set.
