About the game

Akrotiri sends two explorers racing to uncover lost Minoan temples hidden around the Aegean using secret treasure maps. Players place land tiles to match their maps, ship resources to fund expeditions, and excavate ruins for points, all while secret goal cards keep the true leader hidden until the final reveal. It blends tile placement, hand management, and pick-up-and-deliver into a tight two-player puzzle. Designed by Jay Cormier and Sen-Foong Lim, it rewards careful map-reading and resource planning.

Hobbli's Notes

Akrotiri's hidden-map puzzle is a clever twist on tile-laying - piecing together where your temples must be feels genuinely like detective work. The secret victory-point cards keep tension high right to the final tally. A satisfying, underrated two-player strategy game for those who enjoy quiet cerebral duels.

What we like

  • Unique hidden-map tile-placement puzzle feels fresh and clever.
  • Secret goal cards keep the outcome uncertain until the end.
  • Quick 45-minute playtime for a strategic, brain-burny game.
  • Rewards careful planning without excessive complexity.

Keep in mind

  • Strictly two players limits table flexibility.
  • Some players may find the map-matching puzzle fiddly at first.
  • Modest table presence compared to more visually striking games.
